February Wedding

This page is a special continued from the February 2011 post. Dedicated to John and Heatherann  2 people who did it Gods way. And to all the people in gods family who helped make it special for them!

Never, not in a million years will John ever get married!

___________________________________________________

First we flew in...
"Turn left" he said "Turn left!"

The OTHER LEFT!!
Aim for the flat concrete thing down there!

NO Turn around your going the wrong way!
Look out for the  Oh nevermind.

We all met up together and planned everything out for the next couple of days.  That was the first mistake, Never plan anything when your dealing with John! The thought was first, we get settled then the next day we do a little cruse around the local malls, and have a good chance to get to know everyone better. Then we have a couple days to do the tourist things, have the wedding snap some pictures. John and I could visit a brewery for the tour while the girls get all done up everyone gets together and says I do, I hope so, and I dunno if I should!

When waiting for your ship to come in make sure it was not this one!
I never could figure out why it never made it back to me!
Boy guess I forgot that you NEVER make plans when John is involved, and his new found bride is EVEN WORSE!

First the papers were still not in order, so shopping would have to be rescheduled. That got canceled altogether so Marianne, Carolynn and I went out shopping in TO. Guys if you ever go shopping in TO have your parts removed violently before hand it will be less painful that way!

Nothing like having a good getaway car ready before getting married,
Wonder if they would mind if I took it out for a spin or two?!

Shopping in TO

First the drive to the first shopping mall
(while we still believed that the plans were still active)

NOTE: the traffic in the GTA on the highway

The first mall was nice like any normal big city mall. A wall mart, a couple big box stores and a few "man stores" (places with games, gadgets or gizmoes!) and a pet store that I was forbidden to go anywhere near.

I could have been left alone in that mall and been ok for a couple of hours.

What the heck is a movator?

it is a conveyor belt for people who are too inept to use an escalator.

Marianne found herself a new dress
that fit right off the rack!
Can you say Happy woman!

Then it was off to the second mall. By now we were feeling something was amiss with the plans we had setup.

Umm where did all the people come from? all at once?!
Yes miraculously every person in the whole GTA suddenly had to be on the road all at once. A nice short 15 minute drive took almost 2 hours.

There were Signs and wonders that things were not going well.
We are almost there!
It's over there!

So does this mean no canned goods?
By this time it was clear that we were not going to the third mall. We pulled in and Carolynn suggested supper at a nice quiet little restaurant called Rainforest Cafe'

The Rainforest Cafe'

Get a picture of Dorie
4 attempts at getting Dorie and this is the best.
She doesn't like having her picture taken.

Another funny fellow
Swimming in the Monster tank!
I liked this little yellow guy.

Marianne with her favorite food SHRIMP!
Carolynn. Yes she is camera shy.

If you don't pay your bill on time
they have you carry the world.

It would be the constant shower
on the Jubblies that worried me.
Me and CHOCOLATE DIVINITY CAKE.
2 forks and only one mouth.

Man was I stuffed after this.
And Highly caffeinated
Can you say Sugar RUSH!

We said quiet?  Oh we forgot the Elephant stampede, the gorillas, and the occasional thunderstorm. Anyone in the spy business. this is the place for a clandestine meeting because no one could record anything clearly. You cannot even have a clear conversation at the same table.

Mall # 2 had a old navy store that the girls loved. After that it was WOMEN STORE HEAVEN. You must be a woman to go here. Guys you will wish for a painful and untimely demise!

NOTE to women: if you take a man to a mall like this he better be getting something special from you when you get home.

On the plus side there was 1 guy store it was EB games, the store was the size of a broom closet!

After messing around here we were all tired and cranky Carolynn wanted to take us to see the falls. Since everything else that day went to hell we figured why not.

The Niagara Falls at night.

Marianne looking at the falls
Art wondering
"Why the heck am I here?

Glad I don't have to shovel THAT ice!

The clearest shot of the falls.

Another stupid person sign
But if stupid people can do it why can't I?

In a nutshell It is a big waterfall, If you get off on that sort of thing groovie. Me, I don't really see what the fuss is about.

The next day!

We gave up hope of doing anything nice that we had in mind and spent the next couple of days relaxing....

The foot of the lazy relaxed me. yes I have red stripped pj bottoms on.

Marianne crochetting,
When I am not bending over
backwards to see her.

Carolynn learning to Crochet
Carolynn's cat Mitiza
Just watching me watching you.

Woke up to see this fellow circling the yard in front of our window

max zoom max cleanup and everything and this is the best shot of the second one.
Still nice to see first thing in the morning.

Outside the window on a nice cold February morning, The neighbor's house and the vineyards across the street.

We spent a few days enjoying the hottub, and watched some movies. Carolynn seems to have a thing for Christmas movies. I had an opportunity to see some kids movies that I wanted to see and no one could give me heck for it.

Wedding Preparations the day before!

Supposed to be the bouquet.
I liked it but, Nope, something else would have to do
The final preparations went as well as the starting preparations. We booked the happy couple to be a hotel room so they wouldn't need to commute. (I cannot imagine a three hour or more trip on public transit from one end of the GTA to the other.) I stayed behind when Carolynn and Marianne went to pick them up from the bus.

Fly in the Ointment!

Introduce Daniel; (we didn't know about this). We booked one room hotel with 2 beds. We now had 3 people. Issue # one. Someone didn't listen to instructions and thought they had 2 hotel rooms. Good thing I didn't go along to get them, as there are not enough seats in Carolynn's car!

We head back out after the girls come and get me, (someone is as mad as a wet hen!) The place we had planned on having dinner at is closed already. Everyone is short tempered and cranky. The bride to be is turning into bridezilla! arggg! Art is here to the rescue. Grab John and off to the world of Tim Hortons Coffee!

Couple of cups later and everything is calmed down a touch.

Dan is on some kind of "only natural organic vagen" crap diets that make me want to order a nice thick porterhouse blue rare and eat it right in front of him with a 1/4 chicken on the side! Sorry Dan, but God said: Eat meat! Who am I to argue? Now if you are a Vegetable-tarian, please don't be offended, but I am not. So eat meat and stuff the sprouts!

Sorry, back to the story. Anyhow no one could decide on dinner so it was coffee for me, tea for John and a good long chat.

Day two (the big day)

Marianne and Carolynn set up in the hotel with Heather to check out the size on the wedding dress that they found. Which, thank God, fit and needed no real alterations. Dan found the hotel guest computer and was off in the world of Facebook. John and I wandered off to the local Subway for a bite and a coffee. It was here that I found out about Issue # 2: Dave, John's friend from way back, couldn't make the trip, because his wife had the stomach flu and was up all night long. We now had no officiator. Since Issue #3: the official paperwork was still MIA. We now had a whole new ball of issues. Extra unknown guest, a bride and groom who were not legally allowed to  get married, and no official for the "I Dos".  We now had a mock-u-matrmony. So it was back to the hotel for the groom to get into the penguin suit and off to see what we could do.

First since we had it all planned the girls went off to do a spa thing. The guys were shipped off to do a "brewery tour". Note if planning a tour thing for guys, make sure it actually involves something bigger than a corner pub! We had a nice but overpriced lunch, the three of us talked about God and helped Dan with some understandings. After lunch we talked to the bartender, John explained to Dan how beer is made since the tour was 4 big stainless steel vats and a bunch of pipes. Held my interest for... what was I talking about again?

We then went for a walk there was a motorcycle shop across the street and a music store down a couple of blocks. But since it was Sunday all we could do is look into the windows and try to keep from freezing in the wind. The motorcycle shop had some nice foreign job in the window and a couple of antique bikes on display, we stood around and oogled the bikes for a bit and continued on our stroll.

AT LONG LAST

It is now time to get these two love birds together!

Remember Feb 14 (middle of winter) Outdoors wedding!  DRUMROLL PLEASE! or perhaps taps?
The Vows, Guess the happy couple
never figured on saying anything

The new Bouquet

I thought this spot would have been nicer.
But we stood in the wide open field where the
wind could freeze everyone half to death!
Nevermind the foot of snow we all stood in.
Everyone said there vows, Dan acted as the minister, I acted as best man. We had a laugh and piled into the car (remember the one with not enough seats, I got shoehorned into the hatchback) and it was off for the official photo shoot.

UN-Official Photo Shoot

The new couple(?)

Statue of some guy, doing something great enough to get a statue on top of a column, in the middle of a park for.

Nice Gates!
Can I have them sent to my house
where they would serve a purpose?
on top of the nice gates

It says Roy terrace Birthplace of the falls

Poor Roy that is allot of water to give birth to.

Ok couple stand in the gateway
Ok everyone stand around and freeze
while the couple stands in the gateway

No really I am not cold,
Frozen perhaps but not cold
Wind played havoc with the clothing

Picture of the photographer taking
a picture of the couple
Same thing

Again the happy couple standing in the
snow while everyone takes pictures of them

The USA, and I have nothing to
throw at them.
Marianne hiding in the
car where it is warm.

Another by the gate

Hold on I think they froze like that!

Another shot of the photographer
and everyone watching the
couple freeze to death by the gate!
Another quick fix behind the wall

Another shot behind the wall.
the wind was less there
Looking down at the couple
from about half way up the hill
to where Roy stands

The almost frozen couple
Another shot of Roy

Another behind the wall shot
Time to leaf yet?

Loving looks behind the wall
nasty kids!
Carolynn slowly freezing in the snow

Hey get a hotel
oh nevermind.
Infront of the wall shots

Ok Huddle for warmth.
First attempt to climb hill
with indoor shoes on frozen snow
Why not go stand next to Roy?

Attempt number two
The place where the newlyweds
froze to death and are now buried

We are not climbing any
higher without a snow shovel!
Again I ask Time to Leaf?

Another Kiss because they don't have to climb to see Roy!

Ok sit on Roy's site marker!
get fixed up while standing in half
a foot of snow and leaning on
Roy's marker.
You hold the flowers

Dan with the flowers
Don't he look cute?
And girls he is available!

And the happy couple sitting
on a piece of frozen granite
She is smiling...
You should be scared!

One more kiss...

After the pictures in front of Ol' Roy we decided to run across the street and get some by the cliffs leading to the river.
Never mind the 30 foot cliffs beside us
this little 2 foot wall will keep us safe!

Bet that water is not nearly
as cold as it looks
Probably will be melting
sometime this afternoon

Notice the photographer now
has her hood up on the parka?
and the couple doesn't ?
Ok everyone quit moving around

Wonder if anyone is watching
us from the US
Wonder if I should be watching for red dots

Wonder if the term lovers
 leap comes to mind
The new couple posing again by the cliffs

Just in case we wanted to know where the heck we were.
Places everyone!
The cold got to him, I think.
That or he always looks this way.

The cold defiantly got to her!
Give a girl flowers and this is what you get if it is sub Arctic temperatures out when  you do it!
The couple hold hands

And after a few more seconds of everyone freezing we all pile into the car for a trip to the little church. I guess it would not be a wedding without a church! Since this is the smallest wedding in Canada we went to the smallest church in Canada.
Gee it was built the same time I was!

Well no goofy Church signs here!

Everyone pile in to the church
Get out of this wind!

Lets see, the couple, Marianne myself Carolynn,
the photographer and  clueless. Er Dan.
All piled into a church the size of a bathroom stall!

The couple holding hands again,
that or they are checking for frostbite
"Ok this is a raid everyone out of the church!"

The bride emerges
And into the wind!

Quick John grab her before the wind blows her away!

Thankfully that was it for the photography! Carolynn had another surprise up her sleeve yet for us.

DINNER! or as I call it; the last supper of a bachelor!

It was this quaint little restaurant great food  grand prices. The whole place probably seated 25 so we sort of stuck out like a sore thumb but we had a good time! Everyone in the restaurant said congratulations and whatnot. It was fun and another round of "Thank you Carolynn" is due.

So many choices on the menu.
Everyone was still defrosting

It is the deer in the headlights look.

We all ate a fantastic dinner, then it was time for the cake cutting ceremony. The waiter brought us some plates and a knife from the kitchen. The jokes about handing John a sharp knife ran around for a second and we sacrificed the cake.

Some Cake repair was needed
before it was Sacrificed
The Cake
You can almost hear it whimpering

Getting ready for the cutting
Enough pictures guys
just let us cut the darn thing!

The couple Share the first bite.
One of those silly wedding things that I never understood but whatever.

The end of the cake as we knew it!
Marianne had a different desert
and it was as yummy as it looked!
but there was no first bite for me!

The next morning Marianne and I piled on a bus for the airport and then on a plane, a quick visit with the folks and the next morning it was back to the cow house for more snow shoveling!

The boy did a nice job watching over the house and Marianne made him an afghan blanket for his help.

You can visit her blog for pictures of other work she does and Carolynn's blog for her take on the events detailed here. Hope you enjoyed it!
