March 2011 The winter that never ends!

Well March started out with a small hike in gas prices and went downhill from there.
Makes you wonder how much credit you get for your first-born
Then there was the Earthquake and Tsunami in
Japan March 11
As of this writing the total impact of this event has not even been comprehended.
SNOW
Meanwhile back at the inverted cow place
Spring time you say?
I just spent the last couple of days shoveling the snow bank off the parking pad and driveway when this mess hit. The snow pile that the shovel is sitting in is about 5' thick.

Hello Mon Cheries'
Of course there was one sure sign of spring,  the skunks are back! The boy is going to have some work with this especially if we catch momma after she has her kittens (which I suspect are under the shed where this fellow was caught.) Peppi here was sent off to be euthanized. The boy was upset because the pelt was too yellow to be worth anything.

Oh look! Even more snow!

I am beginning to dislike shoveling.
If anybody sings;
 "workin' in a coal mine"
I'll shoot them!
Somewhere in the yard there is a drainage ditch from last year. It took some shoveling and then we found it buried under a couple of feet of snow!
Here it is!

Final notes

Sprouting plants only a week after starting
In a desperate attempt to remedy the winter blues we decided to begin getting the seedlings started. Either we got really good soil or the seeds can't wait for winter to be over either.

Look it is.....
 SNOWING AGAIN!

Amazing what happens to the corn sprouts
when you move it out of the reach of the Mitza cat

Notice the chewed off tops?
That was her the second they came out of the ground.

February 2011 Winter continues!!!

Oh boy what a month!

To top it all off our old roommate got married! Never thought it would happen, but this is the story:

When he was between 10 and 12 he was at a Christian summer camp event. Being the tall skinny loaner he was, he got picked on mercilessly! He was being picked on by a group of guys, when this girl tells them to back off or she will tell her daddy! (not realizing she meant god the boys scattered)
John lamented "why does no one ever love me?"
She replied "But I love you."
Somehow by the end of the day She promised John that she would marry him one day. He told here that he would wait for her.

Time passed as it always does, she grew up and went on with her life. John did likewise but he always kept to his promise and waited.

This year they met in a church function, John did as he always does and prayed for everyone who he felt needed one. She, apparently also does the same. Only this time he prayed for her. That shocked her because NO ONE prays for her!

They started dating and over the course of time realized that they were those two kids from so long ago!
in the course of a few short months they decided to get married!

Marianne got on the job and the house was all abustle as we got things in order. She had some amazing friends from her past who went above and beyond what anyone else would ever do!  With only a few bumps and some tears the happy couple are now married!  After almost 50 years of waiting!!!

It was such an enjoyable diversion from the life on the farm, I got to visit Toronto and see Niagara Falls (yippy) and a chance to visit with my friend.

Here on the farm we still have more snow!  Winter is going to be over soon, I hope!

Anyhow happy February (posting soon a page called "Toronto wedding" with more pics and stories)
