April, Spring changes.

Hey Inverted cow friends.

Sorry having some issue. Google took a good editor and messed it all up. I am unimpressed to say the least. I seriously dislike changes that I have no say over. This one is not good at all.

I know I am a little late, I like to post Blog entries on Saturday but tonight is supposed to be a Meteor shower that is hopefully going to be perfect conditions to watch,  So posting time will depend on the video of that being added later tomorrow morning. I hope it will be worth the wait.

Spring is back, I love it. The birds are starting to nest (no swallows yet) and all the calves are born. I drive to pick up the little darlings in the morning and there are dozens of mini cows, all skittish, looking at the big yellow limo roaring down the road. One day I will remember to take the camera along and snap a few pictures of them. They are almost cute!

Last week I had a bit of a surprise; The Inverted Cow went Viral (no it did not catch the flu bug). I had a boom in views of over 60 in one day, this lasted for 2 days.

Hey viral here is more than the 20 views I get with every post. Apparently people do not like to share my greatness (or is it madness?) with friends and family and enemies.

Any who, I found out through the grapevine that the teacher of the Junior high school social studies class actually had the students reading the cow! I am at this point in time confused as to why. But it gave me an ego boost. Mostly I always think I am writing this out so the folks, and perhaps one or two other people can enjoy it. Kind of a newsletter for them.  So big thanks for the ego boost to the grade 8 social studies class at ___ School. (I would say the name of the teacher or the name of the school but then I would get another 2 page letter from my boss giving me a hard time for saying anything about anyone at the schools).

Spring Cleanup Continues.

For the most part out here I have been working, the last 2 weeks, on cleaning up the yard. Garbage got burned, gravel got moved the yard got raked. That sort of thing. I did take a moment in time and visit the beaver dam down the north road and attempt to open the roadway up a bit more.

Ford got stuck. Oh did the ford ever get stuck! I found out why they call this stuff out here loon sh__! It grabs you and sucks you in up to your undercarriage so fast you do not know what hit you. I got to spend the better part of the day shoveling and digging and finally with the help of a little leverage I got the tractor unstuck. Only to get it stuck somewhere else about half an hour later. The second one I just used some branches and minor shoveling to get it out. But the ruts are nasty and any sucker who goes out and hits them is a goner for certain!
This is when I first got stuck.
The scraper plow is already unhooked and
I am just abut to walk  home to get the shovel

I just do not know that yet....

This is where I gave up on attempting to get her out on its own power
and went home and got the tools to do the job.

Yes the mud is over the rear end and the whole underside
 is glued to the roadway.

But overall I have drained the swamplands down about 3 feet so far, Do not worry Ducks unlimited, I have not destroyed the natural wetlands only got it back under control to the point it was a few years ago before it washed out the roadway. Even so I still could not get out that way in the event of an emergency yet. Having one road way in is dangerous and unsafe. It would be great if we were at war and I needed a defendable position as I could easily block the road off and that would be it. But that is not the case so I like to have a back way in. Especially after last summer when we had the road washed out for two weeks.

Bugs and things.

I was out for a stroll around the yard one day and stumbled upon a very odd ant collection. It was a swarm of ants unlike I have ever seen before. They are gone now but I would love to have an insect guy tell me what the heck they were doing. Here is the Video:

Kyle and I also went for a walk one afternoon. He has gotten into the whole "if it moves shoot it" mode lately, and he is after feathers, so the "walk" was more like 'I got a shotgun and a fresh box of ammo lets find some birds'. We saw the same activity on that walk. We also found a great area of pines that would make a nice picnic spot. If it was not on someone else's property. Kyle was also going to ask them if we could collect some of the wind break trees on the property. There were some pine and oak trees that got knocked down that would fill the fireplace for both of us for the better part of the year.

Oh he never got to kill any birds on the walk.

One of the downed pine trees,
there were several more in the area of similar size.

Final thoughts:

The Cranes are back. These two were strutting their
stuff on the top of the hill by my house.

As close as Kyle got to shooting them was with the camera

He also saw these deer on the way home.

These little buggers are everywhere out here.

Here is the footage of the meteor shower that I stayed up all night to get, Hope you enjoy it I am going to sleep now!

HAHA No footage for YOU!  Sorry kids, but neither of the cameras can take an image at night that can be seen a couple hours of footage an nothing but a black screen! Can't even make out stars and space junk! I am a few hundred thousand short of having a good camera and telescope to take star shots with. Yes this stinks but it is life. I give up, now I am going to bed.

Cheers! C[_]
