Fall 2012 of sheds and distractions.

Dear Inverted Cow friends and family

Many of you have asked me, "When is the next Cow Post coming out?"

Well here it is. Yes I am not making a big fuss to get a post out every other week anymore simply because my life is a big zero right now.  I work, go home  work some more, click on some online stuff and sleep.

So what has happened since my last post.

I had one really embarrassing moment about a month ago. I was making a delivery to one of the cottages on the lake. This place has a very narrow driveway. It curves and snakes ever so slightly so you are twisting to back in with out knocking over any oak trees or tear off any mirrors. On this particular delivery I was backing down the driveway, watching ever so closely in my drivers mirror so not to hit the vehicles parked out on the drivers side of the truck. There is a dog bounding all over the place behind the truck making a ruckus like nothing. I check the passengers side and there I am backing right across the hood of the telephone guy's truck. I say a few choice explentitives and pull forward readjust and  finish backing into the driveway. I dump the load and go of to have a chat with the numskull and find out why his truck was sticking out an extra two feet.

We had a few laughs, I felt like a total bonehead. Because I have never hit anyone's car before. We squared the papers away and I headed back to the office. The boss had a few laughs about it and I was completely confused. I just did a couple of grand of damages to the front end of a guys truck and everyone laughs about it.

I called the insurance guys office. We talk for a while. It boils down to being because everyone is on Communist insurance out here, I as driver, am the one who takes the hit on my premiums. Not as bad as it sounds, but I dropped from having 10 merits  to having 5. This translates to about $20/year increase on my renewal fees. Ok so living in the Socialist republic of Manitoba is not all bad.

I had to phone the insurance people back a few days later because some dopey clerk could not find the information  By the time I called, they found it so I had a chance to talk to the adjuster while he reviewed the  claim.
One of the standard questions was, "are you disputing the cause of the claim?"

I said, "yes! it was the other vehicles fault you see it was parked behind the tree and the lake effect wind pushed it under the side of the deck on my truck. I was totally innocent of all wrongdoing real imagined or otherwise!"

He retorted:"yea that lake effect wind can be rather nasty, blowing several thousand kilograms of vehicles around like that."

We had a few chuckles about the whole thing.

Other fun stuff,

Well not work related anyhow. Janet, one of the people I occasionally do some handyman stuff for, had a shed and trailer stuck out at the lake last spring during the flooding. Someone she thought was being nice went out and hauled them back to his farm, (about 30 KM away at most). This Jerkoff then charged her $300 to do so. The agreed on price was supposed to be cost of gas. The destroyed one of the tires on the camper and dented the shed. Actually ripped the floor off the shed and put a huge dent all around the middle where he strapped it too tightly.

Now moved and placed where she wanted it.
Now about rebuilding the floor and repairing
the sides where  someone crumpled them.

Janet is on disability and can barely make ends meet. She was able to scrape the money together. He got paid, but that is another story not mine to tell. I agreed to help her get the shed and if possable the camper off this assmunchers property. I borrowed the truck from work and in no time at all had the shed loaded. the trailer I attempted to get it up but he parked it in a field and had nothing blocking it up so it was stuck in the  dirt.

The jerkoff kept whining about how he put all this work into helping her and how she was taking her time getting him paid and how miserable this all was. I just looked at him and said "oh well" I did not want to tell him but I was doing it for free because I hate to see injustice like this.

I have tires here at home that I can put on the trailer temporarily, but I need a truck with a ball to haul the thing back to her place. I just could not drag it up on to the deck of the work truck. I would love to see this but head eat crow and have some nice people help me get it towed out but every one I ask has their hand out. The old Whats In It For Me? mentality that pisses me off so much. In it for you NOTHING but the knowledge that you did something nice for someone who needs your help!

Sorry greedy people piss me off! Stupid people piss me off! Injustice pisses me off! Self centered people piss me off! Is it any wonder why I live in the bush and shun contact with "civilized" people? I do not think so.

Other shed fun

I finally broke down and built a garden shed I have been meaning to build since I started the layout of the garden 2 years ago. I did a time laps kind of thing showing footage at each stage. Not really funny but it is one of the things that kept me busy over the last little bit.

I did get it done just in time as we have already had one snow fall.

Garden stuff

I did get a minor harvest off the garden, In addition to what I have here I sent a handful of zucchini off to the foodbank. and a shopping bag of beans went home with the folks.

The first bunch of Zucchini these went to the food bank

The "watermelon" and a bunch of beans

The full harvest after the first frost killed everything off.

Hope and Midnight checking out the abundance from the garden.

With winter comes another year of "trapping with Kyle"

We are getting started on planning another season of trapping. Kyle has spent all summer buying new traps, and getting ready. We have been maintaining a "bait pile" in one of the unused fields near here. The coyotes and other scavenger / predator animals are now accustomed to it and have been making several tracks into the area. I expect it to be a fairly good year as we are already seeing pelts on pest animals (skunks and raccoons) that are in almost 'prime' condition

Expect more videos to come as time permits.

Distractions!!!!!

Yes I have been distracted quite allot! Several months ago I found out that a game i really enjoyed when I was young has been re-imagined, remade, and is about to be released! I have been spending almost all my free time following You tube videos and forum posts with my laggy worthless internet. The game will be in my grubby mitts within another week or so depending on how slow Amazon and Canada post are. I know I could go to the local game store in Ashern and see if they have a copy but I would miss out on some bonus swag! Yea got to get the swag! I also broke down and bought a new toy for the Xbox. (My Pc is too crappy to even begin to think about running the game) so I am now "console gaming only" again for a while.

More to come!

Last thoughts.

As winter fast approaches I am now in the panic mode to get the firewood, the garden rototilled one more time and the the yard cleanup done.

Of course the weather is not cooperating again, as it is raining or snowing again today.

The fauna are not cooperating as well. I had a herd of cattle wandering about my yard the other day when I came home from work, now I have fresh wet poop all over the place.  Then again with a bunch of white tailed deer.

The kids are pissed at me for making them stay inside now as I have far too many "hunters" in the area and anything with fur or feathers are fair game. I want to make anything with 4 wheel drive fair game too, just to even the odds a bit.

Well that is about it so back to work and waiting for the mail!
Till Next Time
Cheers!

Addendum: I  was almost finished this last post, I just had one summery video to add in (footage of the cattle on the yard, some other clips and bits and some candid shots of the kids.) Unfortunately the computer decided that it was time to die. Just got up one morning and it was dead. The video footage, some unedited images and whatnot are now all gone, as is most of the stuff for the Calgary story that I will (really I will honestly) get done this winter.

Sorry for the added delays but that is how it goes. Also I am hoping to get life back to "normal" soon and actually post a little more frequently. But for now I am getting used to my new computer, not the computer I wanted to buy but the only thing I could get at the moment.
