August, Hum drum

Dear fans of the Inverted cow.

Many of you have commented that I have not posted  for over a month now. Some have even clamored for another edition of the inverted cow. I am flattered.

The truth of the matter is this. I started the inverted cow for two things; firstly I wanted to document the transitions for me from, a life of working 12 to 14 hours a day, coming home, having an hour or two to unwind and deal with all the crap piling up at home, sleep and repeat the story. To a semi retired lifestyle where I worked only enough to pay some bills and enjoy my time making this place something worth dreaming about.

I almost had that with the school bus driver job but as things go, stupid people have to alter my plans at every opportunity

The second thing was to document the repairs and modifications of this house into a self sufficient and independent home.

I had hoped to share some laughs, some tears, and some good times with everyone.

Back to the stupid people for a second. As a bus driver I was able to enjoy a few hours a day working twice a day. Have all day to do things around the house and all evening to play in the bush. Now because of the aforementioned stupid person I had to find a full time job. I now have to go to work at 6 am, and do not get home until, at the earliest, 5:30 pm. This leaves me with no time to do anything else. I eat dinner and get to bed. Back to what I wanted to stop doing when I left Calgary, for less money.

One day a week for running round to take care of errands and one day for taking care of yardwork or doing all the other things that NEED to be done. (a weeks worth of dirty dishes get kind of slimy if you know what I mean) No time to play, to take the canoe out for a paddle, to get lost in the bush or anything. I do not know if you have noticed it but that means no nature shots or video footage anymore either.

What I did find happening was the blog became a outlet for my pent up frustrations to show themselves. Thus, making what was originally supposed to be a fun and enjoyable experience into a rant blog.

So where the the inverted cow go? It is on a hiatus until further notice.

Honestly if something other than work and sleep happens, I will video it, and blog about it, really.

A couple of weeks back I posted the video on You tube of the "burning down the (out) house".

Since then not much else has happened. So here is the video and perhaps I will  write about other things shortly.

The Garden VS the Deer

One thing that has happened this year is my garden is attempting to survive yet another bout with the deer in the area.  Rather than eating everything, like they normally do, this year they are pawing up the soil. Yes the deer are becoming living rototillers for my garden. So far they have completely dug up every single onion (I have replanted them in the mornings but over half of them are dead or missing now). They have trampled the potatoes and the beans and peas. of the few carrots that were making an effort they destroyed all but three. I have one beet left.

On the other hand because it ever seems to quit raining here the garden also is looking more like a rice patty than a garden spot. So we have days where it is either 30 degrees out with unbearable humidity or it is raining or a combination of both. The days when the garden dries up the deer move in and digs up whatever looks green.

So there you have it.

Until next time  Cheers C[_]
